What is the best way of cleaning my cylinder head to make it bright again, I cant use the dish washer

of course when she is shopping this weekend the head could "fall" into the dishwasher and she would be none the wiser.

cillit bang works quite well.....
as does "allybrite". it is a dilute Phosphoric acid and it will dissolve a layer of the aluminium. you can buy phosphoric acid off ebay......it will dissolve glass very quickly as well so be careful what you store it in!
i have used battery acid to clean ally as well......takes a while and stinks but does the trick.
