Just called at Steve K's to see what progress as been made, and he's been very busy. Front suspensions on, rear's coming together. Looking good, not long before another Phaeton takes to the road.
Is that 2 3/4 more than yours... or 2 3/4 inches clearance Dave. I do seem to remember it being very high before we started work on it at gary's, just looking at the pictures was frightening.
Good to hear progress is being made, needless to say if there is anything round here that will help just ask.
I still have foam for body/chassis gaskets.
Foam tubing for roof support bar covers.
Spare long studs and spacers. (metric)
That Rivnut compressor tool is a godsend when fitting 'stuff' to the body work.
We need progress photo's too.
Need to rationalise the wheel situation at some point, I can't remember how many 8 spokes I left at Gary's but it must have been at least 2x 5 1/2's (escort) and 2 x 6's (dutton) as thats whats missing from the respective piles. Gary originally had 4 8" rims on the phaeton and wanted to downsize the fronts which is how come he ended up with odd pairs of rims. When we lowered the front it pushed the wheels out too far to use 8's as they stuck out well past the arches.
More work done, body fitted to see how it sits. Looks a bit agricultural, body sit down on the chassis, but the wheel gap is 2 3/4" more than mine. Steve is going to put the lowering blocks back in.
I took Steve's lad for a run in my Phaeton, managed a bit of sideways on the country lane, now he knows what to expect when his Dad's Dutton's back on the road.
