Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

So the few days of the year have been spent "playing" as my wife calls it. So a couple of steps forward and many backwards. The 2.0l zetec is out the garage pit and on the engine stand. Looks ok so far. The mt75 gearbox oil seals have arrived. Front suspension is on and calipers fitted tomorrow. So sounds ok so far but to get engine on stand on my own was over 2 hrs. Grrrrrr. Chipped piant on one of the suspension arms so had to come back off. Grrrr for the second time. Welding to seal small hole in axle took so long lost cost and the welding looks so bad I'm not showing a pic. Can't put axle together as missing bits. Should have checked before starting, amateur mistake. Won't moan as axle was a freebie. TOP MAN. And to top things which made me say sod it and come in and shower, wheels. Bought my wheels a while ago and well chuffed as look good (in my mind) but the stud pattern is out. The English I measured is 108x4. The fronts that I didn't measure 96(ish)x4. So all in all a tad further but 10 new jobs to do. Grrrr

Volenteer to do dishes then secret remains so plus brownie points for doing them. I believe that's known as a win win situation. Lol
Spag Bol and 5 cloves of garlic. Lol
Finished.

Not bad I don't think. Other than ultrasonic cleaning and coating and a £200 lighter pocket I don't think would look much better. Next gearbox.

Just thought i would display your photo for all to see rather than clicking on a link....

p.s. if you reduce the picture size down to 850 pixels width it will load up much quicker but on screen it wont look much different.

I like the idea of the carbs as they will sound great...they will (on a Zetec) give a very useful power increase over the standard restrictive air inlet manifold. But getting the right carbs at a decent cost with the inlet manifold to match put it beyond my plans for a miser build ;-)

Thanks Dave.

I have looked to remove the MT 75 rear drive flange to see if there is a type 9 type 1" spline shaft there......so i bought a 32 mm deep 1/2" drive Bi-hex socket to remove it........only the shaft is too deep and it don't fit.

might have to do a bit of research to see if i am wasting my time.

what drive shaft options are you going for?

Plan is simple. Clean paint and change seals.

I sent the prop flange yesterday, should be with you monday, that'll give you something else to play with for half hour.

Thanks ade. Once got that and the 5 link bits the whole rear can go on. Sounds easy.

I'm interested to find out if that is all you needed as the snout on it is over and inch long and quite substantial. I think putting a washer in the way would be counterproductive, still havent had a chance to go over and check the other diff out.
