Got a blow lamp?
yes steve. i was worried it may melt the seals inside though....
small hot flame, just heat the bleed nipple not the caliper body, it won't get red hot, doesn't need to. Point the flame across the nipple rather than at the caliper body.
thanks ade wont that cause the nipple to expand in the caliper. making it harder to get off...?
I don't ever question the science Brian, Its the differential between the two materials, causes the two components to 'separate' either as they warm up or as they cool.
Soak it in wd40, heat it up, get a six sided socket on it then gently tap the wrench until it starts to move. Its only a 11mm nut (some are 10) so don't belt it. If at first you don't succeed, heat it up again.
:-))))
are so you have daryl.....?
:-)))
anyone here heard of heli coils ....no good for calipers but shi* hot for snaped off bolts.
A few years ago I did an in depth article for DT mag on Helicoils and Thread Inserts........ for some reason it never got published. Cant remember why, there must have been too many other articles ;-))))))
Do you still have a copy? If so then send it to me.
