I thought this discussion should have its own post rather than take up space on a rebuild post.
It is always difficult to convey any sort of emotion when writing or replying to articles posted on forums, as we each, as individuals, can take what has been written, in different ways, and not always, as was meant by the writer of the article.
I consider my self to be an above average engineer, taking into account my qualifications and the experience I have gained over the last 36 years as a motor/mechanical engineer. I openly encourage constructive criticism of any work that I choose to display on forums such as this, and on more than one occasion I have been pulled up by people reading and showing an interest in my work. What I choose to listen to and then apply, is entirely up to my evaluation of the content of the criticism, but the feedback is all important, as there are many ways to do the same job, the more ideas you have at your disposal the better.
I feel, that listening to like minded people who have the same interests, is always an invaluable tool for furthering ones knowledge, It is a fact, that my Phaeton 2 rebuild is better off, for the help and advice that has been freely given on this and the other Dutton forums.
So, I say to all ‘ KEEP ON BUILDING AND SHOWING YOUR WORK AND KEEP ON GIVING THE FEEDBACK’ Its what makes for a good club.
PS :- I will be bringing two sets of boxing gloves to Stoneleigh ;-)

I'm with you on the above post Paul, its very difficult to show an emotion on here which is why I tend to use the smileys on other forums where available. If I do feel really strongly about something then I will specify an emotion during the course of or before / after a statement for precisely that reason.
If it wasn't for the encouragement given on the DOC forum by Martin Clarke (sadly no longer with us) back in 2000 I would never have bought my first Legerra and my life would have been a much more empty space because of it.
I try not to criticise at all, unless it is something I feel comfortable about knowledge wise, as I am wrong far too often (so the mrs tells me).
Heated discussions are best had over coffee and bacon butties at Stoneleigh, The world always seems a better place with bacon and coffee.
Not forgetting Domestic Engineers !!!!!
