Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

hello, has anyone noticed lots of cars diving around with their front number plate in the windscreen..?  well i found out why. apparently this is to stop their plates getting knicked and put onto a identical car. that has tax test and ins. they are also doing this for drug running cars so if anyone takes the reg the wrong house gets busted.  im gobsmacked . wonder whats next

Shush, keep it to yourself, they are doing it with kit cars too :-)))

really. i had no idea. big mistake getting rid of the tax disc then

Care to enlighten us old boy??

I've replaced three this week, can't work out why it's just the front one though...

Most anpr/city centre/police cameras are for a front plate
Can drive around under the radar
Your back plate is correct so as long as your not being an idiot an the car is legit its very unlikely the police will pull you
Driving to wales once on the A14 and went past a police car doing ANPR,about a mile further down he comes flying past then pulls into traffic.once I overtook him he lit me up with the blues an two's.
I pulled up an he walks over "this isn't a mondeo is it !!!"were his first words ( I was I a mk7 escort)
Turns out mud on the plate caused ito mid read and the anpr had me down as a mondeo that had been stolen about a month before
I'm told that they have ANPR cameras on all major roads now. If any criminal type is seen out of their home town then the local police tend to stop them. So the drug dealers replace their cars very frequently. The police turned up at my house two days after I sold an old Hyundai. Turns out the buyer gave a false address (the rascal) and then used it as a getaway car for a series of burglaries. The police arrived in the middle of my birthday tea. They knew they had the wrong guy as soon as I spoke - one benefit of a private education!

god rob whats the chances of that

I saw a white van driving around my estate The other day. On each corner of the roof it had a camera pointing downwards. I assume they are to read number plates. So far I have seen 4 cars that are legally parked but with wheel clamps on. I assume that the two things are related. Presumably road tax and/or insurance. I rely on the reminders but lots around my was are renting and so moving every 6 months or so, in which case the reminders probably go astray. Without the disc then there isn't the daily reminder.
In fact that happened to my son with his BMW 435. He moved just before it was a year old. It was 2 months overdue before it came up in conversation - I just happened to ask him how long he had had it (without crashing it) and when he wasn't sure, then I said that surely he'd remember if he had just paid his road tax. So we looked it up on the gov website. We paid it immediately and then sent off the change of address. They left it at that, fortunately.
