Does anyone know if halogen H4 bulbs (the kind used in the 7 inch units) mind having both filaments lit at once?

The Escort Mk2 stalk used in my Legerra turns the high beam on and the low beam off when you turn on main beam, but that means that there is a cut off of light closer to the car. This is no good turning corners when on main beam because it means that there's no light pointed on the road!

I've modified the wiring so that both low and high beam are active when on main beam, and it's helped the light situation, but I'm a bit worried as to whether or not the bulbs are designed to take it.

We've upgraded the wiring to handle the extra current and added separate relays for low and high so that isn't a problem.

An alternative I'm thinking of is the 'crystal' lamps which have clear lenses and the shape of the beam managed by the reflectors. I should explain the lamps I'm using are the older style which have smooth reflectors and the bumpy lenses. Perhaps the crystal lights solve the problem.

I'm using the clear lens/patterned reflector type, not bad as lights go.

Using H4 'bright white' bulbs and blue tinted sidelights.

I'll post the pics of those up too when I get on the other computer.

there is a problem with extra heat, bulb life will be reduced as will reflectors they will discolour.

Well I finally got round to fitting some of the cler lens/patterned reflector type with some Osram Nightbreaker +90% bulbs. Not driven with them yet but they do seem a lot brighter! Worryingly while I was testing them the three month old relay driving them packed in, that could have been bad on the road!
