Didn't someone ask for a side shot of a Legerra at some point?

i have a week off coming up and i am going under the car to assess the problem...i am quite prepared to re-do the front suspension to get it right...however before i jump in i need to suss out where the problem lies. graham is going to let me measure the S4 to see if the error is replicated there.....

it is on both sides but more pronounced on the N/S, if it could be corrected it will improve the look of the car no end....might even tidy up the handling.

the steering is a little strange after the Phaeton.

first thing first it will get a full 4 wheel laser geometry check at the weekend to see what is actually going on.

I've laid out a 'required format' template to help with garbage sifting.

If people change stuff they can go in and re-edit the posts rather than fill the thread with chat.

It only takes one or two posts to follow the format and others will see the pattern (I hope)

I'm going to start a new post on Mr G's entitled Legerra chassis geometry. I think we might find it easier to post, edit and it will then stay as reference for the future instead of getting lost as time goes by on here. It will also stop posts being kicked off the bottom of the list.

Thread can be found here.

A conversation with Adrian and it might be possible to bin the ARB and replace with two compression struts, the suspension is pretty stiff and should not too adversely affect the handling of the car.....

My ARB mounts are ok.....well ok is not really the right word, they are as it left the factory.

i suspect the TCA mounts are incorrectly drilled on the N/S inner joint....The ARB mounts will want some work as well.

i will spend some time under the car with a tape measure and see what can be done. the car handles well i don't think it has any effect on it being 1" shorter on the N/S, but it looks odd and my tyre is catching the body work on the lower N/S sill on lock.

The diagonal drop tube is thin and susceptible to corrosion and stress fractures around the ARB securing bolts. I have half heartedly experimented on the OS on mine and got the wheel pulled forward into the middle of the arch however it would appear this is not the answer if the body is different too.time to have a play with a measuring stick again I think.

it bothers me so i am going to look into correcting it....i wonder if the S3/4's have the same issue? or if it is a Legerra problem?

I've just measured mine. It is 87" on the off-side and 86" on the nearside. What is that about? I know that some Renaults used to have different wheelbases but that was intentional (strange people). How could Dutton get it wrong like that? I can understand that bodywork might be asymmetric and done by eye but wheel base, that is bizarre.

i have noticed that my cars wheel base is shorter on the N/S than the O/S by 1"......looking at the pictures above it looks like a few others are the same. i have checked my anti roll bar mounts and they look ok but......perhaps they are not properly located.....

Looking at Adrian's pictures, they look like quite extreme corners. Normal cornering will be at a considerably smaller amount of steering lock. However if you imagine the car cornering hard, rather than static, then there would be considerable body roll, probably enough to bring the wheel back close to the vertical. Isn't that the idea of the camber? I can see that the castor angle will add to this effect but I don't think it is the dominant feature on more normal radius bends.

I often look at my Legerra, with all of that static camber, and wonder if the suspension has collapsed.
