If you are using solid rod, then a 20mm square can be turned down to a 20mm diameter, so a 20mm thread is possible, but it seems rather OTT. I'd go for M12 and maybe a thinner rod.
Good spot Graham, will have to store that one.
The locost boys use them on independent rear suspension and the rubber bushes are far more forgiving than rose joints.
John, I still have those rear seat parts in my lockup, will have to take some measurements.
My fear Paul is the weak spot where the weld joins the 2 pieces together, if things dont quite line up and starts a force in another direction. I have used rose joints in turnbuckles on big belted machinery and they did wear. But it was knocking out stuff for 24/7/365. Interested to know how much stress these joints take in our cars.
