DuttonOwners

Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Define what we as the DOC are about...

Just what are we trying to achieve here and on the other Dutton sites?

Do we wish to only preserve Duttons as they left the factory?

are we looking to use and modify our cars to suit the modern road conditions?

are we looking to find new ways of solving old problems or are we looking to keep a supply of classic parts to maintain the cars as they were built?

Are we going to discourage modifying of the cars bodywork?

what modifications are acceptable, if any?

Are we looking to keep Duttons as a cheap to buy car or do we wish to see values rising (here in the UK... Because they do have a value abroad)

How, if we wish to see values rising do we achieve it?

Just a starter for discussion.....

I don't see how MrG‘s forum has too many sub divisions though. one for every model some general topics and links. each subject has its posts listed in date order surely they don't count as sub divisions?

Hear, hear Vern. it was my intention to stir debate as lots of opinions is good. there does seem to be a concensus here so that is also good. Dave. (DOC Secretary )

This will no doubt ruffle a few feathers :-)

The DOC is by the members for the members - a little socialist I know but thats how it is. Many on the committee are people who didn't say no when volanteers we sort to fill vacant places.

The job of the comittee is not to decide what the club should do or be but to canvass the membership on what they want from the club and then try to put that into action.

In our own ways we all try to help each other. It can get heated on here at times but that just shows how passionate the people on this site are about their cars and the club.

I do not knock constructive critisism, I my view it is needed. These discussions should not be just for the committee, the club belongs to the members not the committee but it should not be forgotten the work the committee put in behind the scenes for the benefit of all.

THERE IT IS ...... Same every time, so we best leave discussions like this to the elected committee members and not start them on the forum's, leave the forums for car building and light harted banter.  As we know the committee do it on a volantry basis, and we should thank them for their stirling work. NUFF SAID.

Paul thanks for your comment. I know we could all go back to Mr G's forum but I think its important that we end up with an official DOC forum on the DOC website, also for the number of members I think there are too many sub forums on Mr G's.

and Myself are all members of this site, that's 8, more than half the committee.

I'm not going to get involved in political discussions on a public forum regarding the club. It's one of the longest running single marque clubs in the UK, 33 years next year so we must have been doing something right.

If you are a club member and have something you wish to bring up at the AGM then please feel free to email me and I will bring it up on your behalf should you not be able to attend in person.

All the committee members are listed on the club website with contact details and email addresses where possible. Not one of us makes a penny from the club, we don't get paid expenses, the club doesnt pay for the mobile phone I use nor do I gain anything by spending hours on the phone and writing emails to members or the DVLA when I should be outside fixing or driving my cars.

If anyone wants to take over my job next year they can have it, subject to being stitched up nominated by a fellow club member and approved at the AGM.

If you want change then put it in writing or turn up at the AGM.

If you want more club magazines then write the damn articles to go in them.

If you want to get to shows a day early, set up the club tent, barby and stand and then be the last man standing when its pissing down and its all got to be loaded away again then stick your hand up and volunteer.

If you want to devote an entire room in your house to club regalia, back issues of the club mag and hours of sorting badly written orders for club sweatshirts etc the same applies.

If on the other hand you don't want to do any of these things then please don't criticise those that do. Its soul destroying to think that I and the other committee members are wasting our time.
