Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Found a problem with this V8, 16 valves to grind in, 16 rockers to grind and polish, 16 ports to clean up 8 pistols to weigh and balance, plus rods to polish and balance. I'll be here for days! Fingers are rubbed raw and I've only stripped it all and acid cleaned it all. The garage smells great :-)))

Yep, gone back to the pinto, V8 is now reserved for something else, once I "pick it up" :-))

BIG step forward today, oil in, battery fitted. Plugs out and spin it over, GULP! nothing?? forgot the wire on the pre engaged starter. Contact, and away it spun. Connected pressure gauge to block direct, spun it over, we have a reading ! Fuel is being delivered to the carb, so tomorrow will try and kick the Pinto into life. Is it safe to run it with the rocker box open or will the spray bar, spray?? Plus I got headlights, nothing in this wiring malarky, as long as I remember the engine earth helps :-))

Radiator arrived, good bit of kit, in the box are 4 rubber bobbins, exhaust type mounts. Rad must be fitted with these, or warranty void ! Cooling fan arrived too, which is just as well, I forgot the cables in the loom for it, luckily I have not wrapped it all up yet. Quick question: alternator wires to pre-engaged starter main solenoid, the big live one from the battery, anybody see trouble doing it this way??

After a few false starts, finally started on the engine bay loom. Getting the correct cable for headlights etc. took a little finding. Also now sourced a big aluminium radiator from a Honda, brand new on eBay for £60. Need to push on, the evenings are drawing in :-((

V8 Sierra is in a few hundred bits again at present. If I could ditch the strut front end and go Legerra style I could get the exhaust manifolds to exit, but at present I need to grab some cash, and the school work is calling and this Westfield is being a bit "time consuming".. Sierra is getting flip up front end and has to have new dash, tunnel and complete rewire. Could be a few weeks yet :-))
