Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Found a problem with this V8, 16 valves to grind in, 16 rockers to grind and polish, 16 ports to clean up 8 pistols to weigh and balance, plus rods to polish and balance. I'll be here for days! Fingers are rubbed raw and I've only stripped it all and acid cleaned it all. The garage smells great :-)))

Send the gremlin to Germany...

Just screwed a pressure gauge in and its a fair pressure, hot and running at 40psi, ticking over at 20ish, oil seems a bit on the thin side, definitely sounds like it's in the sump. One of the gremlins knocking " let me out" :)))

I thought things were to quiet, looks like the Sierra has ran its ends, or mains, or its piston slap !! Suddenly got noisy in the lower end department, plenty of oily stuff flying around and still lots of compression, so I may have to slot the Pinto into the Sierra now, I've put it off and off again, in fact its (the crossflow) still going well, just a bit rattly, could be unleaded I suppose, no, I wont be that lucky.

well, I've been well set up today: one, went to work to be told no steel until Wednesday, day over. Then got took or a ride to look at the Sierra Pick up, only to find it was a Sierra pick up, of the Ford variety. Turned around to see them all grinning, it was a set up. Went looking for the RX8 to see what the gearbox was in it to find my son sold it all last week. Wasn't it Bob Geldof " I dont like Monday's"

Just been told of Sierra pick up in bits, could get my  V8 a home yet. Would make things interesting and its tax free :-))

The Sierra has capacity for big rubber as well as big rims. I think mine are 215/75/15's on 15x8 et0 with no spacers. They are close to the strut but do not touch it... 27" in diameter they do make for some heavy steering.

Problem sorted, wheels and tyres quickly sold, £500 cash in the hand, and I grabbed the £200 they owed me, so it's a win win situation. Back to Tig welding there four link, then hopefully enough tube to do my five links, while I'm in the zone.

Trouble being they weren't designed for the "bling" you all stick on them, rubber bands and big wheels, cant see it making much difference to the handling, harsher ride, crash, bang wallop! Might as well use the rose joints Ade. That's in my opinion, of course. Ran 17's, went back to 15's, now back to 13's and 70 profile, handles a dream. Never reached top speed James, so don't need that. I can get to 70 darn quick though  :-)) The big wheels are now living on the Sierra with Toyo rubber, make it go better ??

I've got spacers on the green one and the white one. I don't have a choice really as even with 0 offset wheels they still tuck under the arch and scrub on the chassis on full lock.
