Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Been playing in the shed for a while, following on from Ade's Sierra I'm going the Pinto route. Finally got all the parts and ready to start. Just tried it loosely all together and it appears to fit, phew, its a big old lump, I can hardly lift it back onto blocks. Anyway measurements all taken and need to make up a gearbox crossmember and move a few bits around. Dave Adams has pre warned me about the starter motor. So I'll leave that until all is settled in the car. Ah, the car, I am tempted to remove the whole front body work and make it into a flip front. Still out on that decision. Need new doors or a lot of fabricating, Its gonna be a long winter. Oh, and it may get a different set up in the back axle, minimum 5 link or the old jag back axle wot sit.

Trouble with mating the propshaft to rear end of gearbox. May ditch the back axle and go sierra diff and shafts. Simple bolt in crossmember to fabricate and fit, so it could take a tad longer (Tuesday?)

as soon as I can manage it, need to do a few jobs on the old dog as I go. Start the stripdown this week if time allows. Mind you I got all my ducks lined up, watch someone scatter them, always happens. :-0

I told her Daryl, luckily she didn't wake up, phew. Bit chilly here today, time to put the Speedo's away and hang the sandals up. Soon be Saturday night in the cave doing what men do behind closed doors.

My wife, being scientific reckons, it's because I've took all the crap out of the back! Crap?? That is collectable dear. 3 set of leaf springs, 2 sets of front struts, honking great battery and various other collectable bits. Crap ? Women, 45 years and still learning. :-))

Been out "playing" in both Dutton's, both are going extremely well at present. This lovely weather must be something to do with it. The Sierra has just come up the big hill to get to the house like it's never done before, very strange, but I'm not moaning. Small fuel leak on B+ rear float chamber, who remembers making gasket out of glossy magazine paper and cornflakes packet. :-)) Time for a quick tinker then watch the rugby until I doze off, then it's dinner, have to dress for dinner, what shall I wear.

My wife suffers with arthritis, plus she has to deal with me, often referred to as a pain in the neck, or worse :-)
