Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Just had a update of the cost spreadsheet at lunchtime. Current quick update gives a total of £918 including the purchase cost of the car. So if I am not to exceed the £1,000 budget that gives me £72 for the remaining works. So it looks like the budget will be exceed as the following items still need to be purchased -

- Seats (or pads)

- Seat belts

- Radiator hoses

- Wipers

- Rear wheel cylinders

- A real roll bar

- Front dampers

- Full set of suspension bushes

It looks like the new project budget might have to be £1,500.

Thats a good price, when you get it made allow an extra 50mm either side so you can cut it to the correct length, as you have to take into consideration the slight angle of the sides if you want it to sit square on the chassis rail for welding.
No liability accepted for my bad sketch and measurements !!

I had a quote for a roll bar based on the sketch that is on Mr G's Forum. £50.from a company in Nelson, Lancashire. I have attached a link to a listing he currently has on eBay for some tube. I just emailed him directly for a quote, as mentioned on the listing

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROLL-BAR-ROLL-CAGE-MILD-STEEL-TUBE-42-4-X-3MM...

Or item number 300446461627

Hope that helps. I haven't actual order a bar yet, need to strip the car a bit more yet

Dont forget, that if you are replacing your roll bar with a larger diameter tube, and if you are going to use your wet weather gear, you need to have the new one bent to the out side measurements of your existing bar, other wise you may find that your hood will be a little on the tight side when you come to fit it.

I wouldn't mind a full cage for the phaeton project, so I would be interested too, could save postage issues if it was near Bolton. :-)

on mrG's forum site there is some one who has posted a set of dimensions for a new roll bar and even recommends someone in the north west who will make one and post it to you for a very reasonable sum, £80 or there a bouts if i remember right.
