Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

This evening I have been mostly...doing the Sierra

I have come to the conclusion that whoever designed the column, pedalbox bracket and U/J layout on the S2 Sierra's was loco or suffered from some odd physical deformity. Absolutely nothing lines up properly on mine so tomorrow the pedal box and column are coming out again and I am going to re glass the floor, possibly even put a sheet of metal in to act as a bracer plate.

Pedals have steel brackets welded to the chassis strut brace and strut riser which are two inches too far to the right and if you fit the column correctly it fouls the brake fluid distribution chamber. Even after I have moved everything around i will still have to have a shaft made with U/J's both ends to join the column to the rack. Its worth it not to have to sit twisted in the seat though.

Wiring is much tidier now and I guess I know where 90% of the wires are supposed to go, just remains to run the loom in and start terminating. Going to make a new dash around all the switches and dial cluster but that will wait until its got a ticket as the main aim is to make it driveable and use it.

I knew the barn had gone and was just being sad at its passing.

I can see you coming up with a box full of bits stashed under the luggage, just to get rid of them.

Just struggling to get the hinges off the back door so I can wedge and glue it in place while I make a new shut for it from inside, more messy glass work (love it)

Half way through the wiring I had a change of heart and decided to simplify it,

I've busted my deadline of next week by quite a bit now and still waiting for engine parts I bought last week to arrive.

Will your friend not hold fire on the skippage while we try and organise some backup for you to get the good stuff shifted and stashed?

oh yes Mike. thats just right. 32 DGAV-5E is whats waiting for the choke butterflies, if its all in one i might as well just use it as is.

I actually don't mind the auto choke on the Sierra, its going to be used a lot in winter.

How much do you want?

Can you post it?

As to the Sierra being cockeyed... its easily correctible with two small u/j's and an angle grinder.

I will have someone else weld the final shaft up though probably NW propshafts as they did the legerra one.

Looking at the PDF's of the sierra build manuel it would seem thats how they were, cock eyed. Probably to avoid having a column with a joint in it.

Pinto throttle linkage and bracket were notorious for falling apart, the plastic bit in the bracket goes brittle and breaks up so I guess everyone is after any good spares that are about. Have you tried Burton power?

Couid a crossflow one be adapted to fit?

I don't think its a height issue Vern.. its just out of alignment, all of it.pedals to the right, column to the left just needs starting again.

How come there are thousands of scrap pinto's about but not one has a throttle linkage and bracket and all the webbers have had the choke butterflies removed.

Yeh well Mr Dutton was a shorthouse so that might explain it.
Will have a look in the shed 2nite, may be able to help with the choke flaps and spindle.

I still need the following items if anybody has them spare or for sale.

Pinto throttle linkage and manifold bracket to fit a DGAV or DGAS.

Set of choke flaps, support bar and actuating mechanism for a manual choke DGAV.
