Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

After two years of slowly fading gelcoat I decided, before the lakes run, to polish the Legerra with a toy I found in the garage. The halfords polisher failed miserably on the last vehicle I tried to polish with it, seems I was using the wrong 'stuff' ... Tcut.

I tried something else this time, G3 scratch remover, water in a spray bottle and this dirty great polisher. I'm pleased to say it worked a treat. Bit weird on the arms for a while afterwards but definitely took all the graft out of cleaning the old gelcoat up. The answer was plenty of water, something I didn't use before as Tcut isn't water soluble. Followed up with some coloured polish and then run the polisher over with a clean bonnet on. The stain in the polish is green (same as the car, logically) which is how come my hands and jeans, t shirt etc are all nicely tinged with green.

before you ask, yes I said T shirt, lovely day today, sunny warm, I thought I must have moved further south overnight. I went outside to shut the garage about half an hour ago and realised it was just an illusion brought on by that big yellow thing that's been in the sky all day. Let's hope it stays that way for the bank holiday. See you all in 'the field'.

Mostly gelcoat. The front bumper is painted along the bottom and the centre of the rear bumper is touched up to cover some crack repairs.

The gel coat is stained / bleached quite badly and it does take a bit of work to keep it shiny. It will be painted as soon as the Sierra is finished and I can take it off the road.

Did you have to wear the clean bonnet to stop the green getting in your hair?
