Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

If you own a Legerra don't break the windscreen any time soon.......
Auto windscreens have quoted me £1158.50 supply and fit!
I hope that's a mistake.....i am looking for alternative quotes.

I phoned auto windscreens and exercised the full extent of my telephone skills. I now have two members of staff 'gone looking' for any trace of the unsold jigs and also tracing the auctioneers that arranged the disposal of the jigs that were sold. I'm hoping to trace the auction and find out which overseas purchaser acquired the jigs.

The thing is......insurance usually only cover up to 40% of the cars value. a screen that costs £2000 as a one off (a batch of 5) will write off the car.

Thing is, mines insured and therefore all I would have to pay is the excess of £100 at which point the final cost is down to the insurance. Now how would it go on if I had the only spare in the country? Surely they would have to either pay whatever it cost OR pay auto windscreens?

Auto Windscreens are still trading http://www.autowindscreens.co.uk/ they must still be in contact with the jigs somewhere.

I have a mate who owns Bolton Safety Glass maybe he can help, but we are away for the next 3 weeks.

Had a quote.......it works out at £400 (+vat?) each for a minimum batch of 5. Subsequent screens will come at. about £900 a batch of 5.
The tooling costs for a jig to make the screen is £1200.........

BUS... that might explain the price...

Gone bust is an issue if the jig has gone. Might be possible to get a 'team' into the old factory if it's vacant enough. Have a scout round?
