I think I have figured out what I am doing pedals wise now. The current master cylinder is a single circuit jobbie, is it beneficial to fit a tandem one?

Also when I stripped the car it was setup so the rear brake line went to one drum and then that drum fed the other, does it work ok like this or would it be better to T the brake line and have a feed to each drum

Pascal's principle of hydraulics ......    'Pressure is transmitted undiminished in an enclosed static fluid'   so it makes no difference how the plumbing is on the rear.      As far as a master cylinder is concerned, is better to go for a tandem unit, as you get three separate feeds, one to each front brakes, and one for the rears.

The Mk2 Escort had dual circuits but they seem to be organised as one circuit for the front and one for the rear. None of that clever diagonal stuff at Fords!

yes james thats right, the rears  are off the rearmost circuit, the fronts are off the front two, but they are the devil himself to bleed

You only have to bleed the one on the end of the line. Both connections to the driver's side brake cylinder are used so there is only one bleed nipple at the back.

Pete, my rears are exactly like that, both joined, no problem at all.  but if you can get a tandem m/c its got to be a safer way to go.

No no benifit whatsoever......I have tried driving cars with nobbled brakes and split ccts eithe dont work or send you into a spin......

Some of you will remember that I couldn't use the original pedal box because the master cylinder fouled on the inlet manifold. I bought a Reliant pedal box which had a reversed master cylinder but I couldn't get it to work around the steering column easily. I thought my last resort was going to be a floor mounted pedal box but I didn't want to spend a fortune and I didn't fancy two master cylinders, bias bar etc Browsing ebay last night I came across Spitfire 1500 pedals, the brake and clutch are separate pedals and the master cylinder goes on the top reversed, I think this is the answer and have bought a set, this is how it assembles

Only thing I will need to do is adapt the clutch pedal for a cable but I think it will be fairly straight forward
