Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

I have had the Dutton for one year and i must admit i have made negative progress , the car looks and is worse than when i bought it. Maybe the car looked better than i first though. All frock and no knickers to coin a phrase.

Frustrating.

But never mind , i have made a new bench for the garage and have a cunning plan to get some power so progress should start to move on.

Anyone know how to wire a Cortina fuel gauge as fitted to the deluxe models (ie water and fule in same big gauge).

Got the apprentice in the local Engineering shop making up some nice brackets so i shall be able to sort out cycle wings , head lights , harness seat belts.

My planned MOT date is 10th May , a big ask but one must remain positive.

neil, combined fuel/ temp gauge wiring , live feed to  instrument voltage regulator, then wire to live side of gauge with fly lead to temperature gauge,  the leads out from both gauges go to their respective  senders and earth out through then.

I've been through this phase recently too, i'd originally planned mine to take a year but its now been two and i'm only just starting to put it back together. Plans do change though, originally I was going to leave chassis and suspension all standard, I blame that Adams, Sheridan and Bosworth fellas!

Pete  mate, it takes as long as it takes, dont do what i did and  rush things, because in the end it takes longer,

Behave Mr Clayton, you have a ways to go before you take as long as me !!!!  October 2008 was the start of my rebuild ........ and Mr Adams (AKA superman) bangs out Phaetons quicker than a rabbit has babies :-))))  On a serious note Neil, if you look at it as a hobby, and enjoy your time tinkering with the car to get it as you want it, providing you persevere with it, the end result will be worth the wait....... that has been my philosophy over the last few years any way.

yes Stephen, that is right, i rushed a lot of things, did not do it right, and had to re do it properly, what prehaps i should have said was dont cut corners,   i wasted a lot of time and money , and why because i wanted it on the road sooner than my abilities allowed for. still its all in the past now, and the cars going to be better for it
