Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

It has come to my notice  (by 3 doc members so far) that because matters were not to some members liking at the AGM that they are planning a coup and wish to usurp the DOC to their prefered committee irrespective of the members expressed wishes. Whilst I have some sympathy with those wishes a secret  gang plotting is not the way to do it. I was asked by all of the 3 members to stay out of it......however I wasn't included so I had to rely on those good friends to keep me in the loop.

I have decided to get involved...

Is this the way to organise or reorganise a car club? A secret club of petulant committee members?

I have always been in favour of abiding by the rules even if i don't like them. .....and that is why I was kept out of it (this coup......) because I play by the rules. And I am glad I was kept out of it....

This is a single marque car club not the freemasons.

I work for the best interests of the DOC and the Dutton marque.  Not my own personal interests. I wish more felt the same way.

This is no game Dave, nobody has broken any constitution rules. Paul is quite correct in his statement regarding the PM system and the members having a discussion about the ongoing problems that this Club is facing at present. Be honest with me Dave, how much communication has there been amongst even the Committee members dispite having a group email system in place ?

And  the best way to resolve it is a shady back room deal? Where the jobs are cherry picked by those agitating for change?

Dave, you are not listening to what's been said,   there is no "shady back room deals", just a bunch of guys having a discussion about the state of the Club as it stands at present.

Also, I note that you failed to comment on my question to you regarding the non-communication amongst the Committee members

Alfie I would like things to change for the better.  I am ironically one of the most frequent posters on this site. And take a very active role in promoting the club.

The club needs to buck up its ideas but sometimes there are better ways of doing things,  somethings are capable of resolving themselves. ...lapsed membership is a honest way of ejecting someone......4 months is surely long enough.

Dave, you say you want change, but can i be frank, what is happening now is because people are not seeing change, they are seeing exactly the same problems as what beset the club last year,  some things if left till the next AGM will end up with a  more serious problem, its the same people, the same issues, nothing has improoved .after another  year of poor performance, will the next AGM be any better attended  than the last?  how many members does the club stand to lose?

we all agree that the club  has to buck its ideas up, but the message appears to not be reaching the people up the top of the tree,

Ok Martin, if you really insist !!!!!!    you can be called Frank :-))   Tee Hee,  thought I'd lighten the mood, now where's my spanners.

Dave, I could not and would not disagree with the first paragraph of your last post, credit where credit is due
But, somethings are incapable or are blocked from resolving themselves. Using your "honest" way of doing things, the Treasurer should have been removed from his post immediately when he decided NOT to pay his membership fee, same as the entire membership of the DOC has done.
WTF makes him think he is better and above us all ? This gentleman (as an ex-member ) has held the purse-strings of this Club for far to long. God only knows what he is doing with the finances of this Club, because nobody else knows !!

I like to support the dutton marque and have paid my £12 this year but have nothing to show for my money last year.

IMHO the club has lost its way, looking at past DT's, there has been more for the members,in the way of get togethers and shows, so what do you get for your £12, you get access to members pages on the official site,  but how much use are they,? the web site is slowly being improoved, but could be better, you get access to the records and certain things only the club can officially help you with, such as  tracing registrations, that alone is worth the £12, it was in my case, the problem is this, that the club has yet to drag its self into the 20th century with its mindset, committee members have to be active, and be seen to be  so,  the club could do so much more, but isnt  because some are stuck in the past. carry on as before doesnt work  any more  without change i fear for the future of the club. if you pay your dues and get nothing for it, how  long before you decide to take your membership elsewhere?

Only the dutton torque when it arrived good read nothing last year last issue was 124! This free forum is brilliant and friendly people make it easy problem. Thanks to some club members I picked up the drophead sierra and have had invaluable advice

I wish there was. Ironically some (all) of the committee members most vocal about the lack of DT's have failed to send in the material promised  to fill an issue. So I am at an impasse not enough articles  for a dt to be published and apathy from apparently motivated members who want a magicians trick from me to conjure up a magazine from thin air.

Thats not the only problem but I wont go on but suffice to say it is not a simple matter to put together a magazine.

Wayne, the problem is this, if its on an open forum, then the club gets damaged, and no body wants that, thats why some people have been descussing things on a closed forum,  as you say people can vote with their feet, and in my view thats what could happen, i am certainly in 2 minds as to renew , if there is no change, then i wont renew, and i guess others feel the same,  last year, dispite it stating in the rules that all members should be notified at their last known address, of the AGM, this did not happen, i certainly did not recieve any written notification,  simple  attension to detail.  things like that, and having the accounts published prior to the meeting  , i know we had new personel in positions, but we also had previous experienced persons  who could and should have advised  to ensure things happened .but they did not, i was new, but i asked, i got advise, i worked with other members who had more experience and took advise  so that i could do my then job,  if i could do that, why didnt the treasurer or Secretary, or were they in fact given poor advise ? or thought they knew what they were doing?
