Intermittent Misfire
As usual the SIerra is sulking, I have developed an intermittent misfire which I originally put down to water in the tank, very similar to the Legerra when that happened so added 'dry fuel' to a near empty tank but still causing issues.
Doesn't seem to be related to engine temperature, RPM, or fuel...
I am going to plump with a dicky coil and change it tonight, open to other possibilities so lets be having some educated speculation... 2L pinto, 32/36 carb, standard points ign with motorcraft dizzy. Engine runs 'normally' 99.9% of the time but just has those little blips every so often.
Ideas please... I've gone to swap coils...back on later.

Now it's cooled I've had a better look but still doesn't seem to be anything obvious. I'll pack some spares and some tools tomorrow just in case, typical that it should decide to act up when rain is forecast.
I reckon it has to be the HT circuit somewhere so a spare set of HT leads will be in the car tomorrow... along with a dizzy cap rotor, points, condenser, plugs etc. Luckily I still have all the things I took off on the last service so should't be too far gone to use.

DOH... did not think of that and now running the Sierra will seriously piss of my neighbours. I did find a cracked alternator bracket so shopping for one of those on ebay in a bit. Sitting on tickover it seems fine so i've packed a coil and king lead, good thing I can steal bits from the green one if I really have to.

Distributor cap? Solved the problem on my legerra sounds similar

Packed the old one as a spare for tomorrow, just in case. Also packed my timing light as I've been caught out by dizzies moving round too.

Conscripted into 'other duties' involving hedge cutting equipment, large saws, loppers and a hedge...
On the bright side Sue will be broken from gardening so I'll get back on the car later.
I already have involuntary muscle spasms in my forearms from the hedge trimmer. :(
