Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

hi. well iv fixed my waterpump gasket. then bottom hose started leaking. fixed that...now rad is leaking...so looks like i need a new rad. my car is a 1600 x flow. from a mk2 cortina. just been looking at the prices on fleebay. and after nearly having a heat attack..."how much" so im sat down now and my hearts not pumping out my chest anymore...lol.

can anyone recomend a good place for me to get a new rad.....or even recomend a cheeper different type of rad that will do the job..

any advice greatly apreciated.

thanks

ano crazy tried rad weld...didnt think it would work and it hasnt. never known that stuff work. its only a weep..but i dare not use the car. knowing my luck it will blow miles away from home.

lol evil bay. ok ill take a look at that mr king.

had a look at that graham.. way too much mod required.. no filler on rad so needs expansion tank. feeds on same side so probably need new hoses. new mounting points...nar too much for me...thanks anyway

you take it out and get it repaired if its only a small leak and the core is in reasonable condition

you could do with a good flogging daryl.......lol

how much does that cos tgraham. im thinking i may have to bite the bullet and fit a new one...iv seen some alaminium ones for mk2 escorts...newley made on fleebay. about £120.

i may teach myself how to re core rads.....love getting new skills. how hard can it be. i can weld. solder. cant be that hard.

continuing saga of my car....water pump fixed....hoses fixed....radiator fixed...found out why the rad was leaking the stupid t**t who built my car......bolted electric fan through radiator....no bushing nothing so bolts have been slowley sawing through the core....got to be bodge of the month.  found another bodge thermostat senser tucked in to top rad hose and tightend with silicon and clip...omg what ever next....im still smiling though.

ok so all good now...water tight. cooling fan mounted on a frame......whats next...

Just for info, I have a few early ford rads which would fit Duttons. Escort, Capri and Consatina. Been stood around a while so may need pressure checking

nice one. im shure they will come in handy to us..

If you want a good cheap high capacity radiator consider one from a Merc C Class
