I was chatting to a colleague about my Melos (I do work some of the time but chatting about kitcars helps to establish a common interest and is an important part of team building), anyway I was telling him about the Wondaweld that I had used to seal my leaking core plug and that I was intending to drain it tonight and replace it with antifreeze. He said that I should make sure that I don't use red antifreeze, only the blue stuff. He reckoned that the red stuff is more acidic and will eat through my rubber hoses. That's a bummer as I just bought 5 litres of the stuff from Halfords. Is he right?

I just cleaned to old thermostat housing (one I replaced on the Legerra) in the blasting cabinet. Its very pitted around the seat and the seal areas. Really want to do my antifreeze today so i'll have to use it, looked through my spares and only have a 92 degree thermostat. Looks like i'll be going t'shop then. Pinto thermostat housing is only £16.74 301777173145 but as it needs to be cut down i'm reluctant to buy a new one. Nice billet ones on ebay too but at £45 they can keep them.
Just been in wickes and they do their own sludge remover etc. Seems b&q do their own at a good price to. Also there is some additive that claims to stop kettling.
