some pics of the rebuild process,

the top trailing arm bracket is broke......

the diff is sloping back a little (looking up) so that will need sorting.......

As you can see there isn't a lot of bracing in an S1 chassis, that will be sorted.

had all the electrics fired up to check them on Tuesday, since its going for MOT on Saturday if i finish it.......

every thing worked as it should first time if you except that the dash idiot lights worked as they should but the indicators  were the opposite way round (two wires to swap) and the main beam idiot light lit on dip not main (again two wires to swap) so very pleased really for a total rewire, well total rebuild in just less than 6 months....some pics, only the carpets to fit in the car and some minor tweaks and mot here we come.

and finally, because Steve likes my headlights :-)

Hi Dave,

you take a good job.

congratulations :-)

Tom

Thanks tom.....a little longer than i planned (by one month) but i am happy with the result.

Is it my eyes? or is the red stripe below the grille wider?  and the main stripe on the bonnet off centre to the right at the grille?

Because the “v“ of the nose cone is not central to the bulge of the nose cone so i angled the stripe slightly, it has a. has about a 3“ off center angle. i hoped it would look better than not going up the center of the bonnet bulge. it might not be such a great idea. Yes the red stripe is a bit thicker on the spoiler its a fettling job for later, again i hoped it would not be so noticable once the number plate was fitted.......wrong ;-)

Engineers eye pal, is it paint or a sticker?

Paint......a bit of a pain to apply.

just done carpet in my car you will have to have a test run up to my house and check it out yours is looking smart looking forwerd to seeing it

Had thought to do just that Danny. and Mike in scunny, if i get it mot‘d this weekend or its mot and down to newark next saturday.

has it passed,,, yet ,,,,

Had to work yesterday and also could not get car booked in for MOT.....bummer.

There has also been a slight hiccup finishing my car off yesterday afternoon, i thought that my steering column was positioned to miss my exhaust....I thought it was (it was ok recently) however on changing the "U" clamps on the column it no longer would clear the exhaust so some "fettling" was required. got a few odd little jobs to do on it and its done. I hope.

Its ready for its mot......what a pain today has been. because i have lowered my seats in the car the seat belt mounting bolts were lifting the seat base up. so some "mods" to the seat base were required. i have found so many odds and ends to sort it has been doing my head in. also fitted the doors and roof.....the doors do not fit the same as they did. the passenger door fits better now than it did the drivers is nothing like as good and some hours of fettling has not made it significantly better. And i still have finishing jobs to do but not tonight i have had enough, 12 hours today...
