Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Its Friday the 13th. Spring is here. So what plans do yo have for your Dutton(s)? I cannot believe how fast time is passing, evenings are drawing out and morning is light about 6ish, I think I need every available hour to get on top of every thing Dutton related. The B+ is up and running and hopefully will fly through the MOT next week, tomorrow its on the rolling road at the local engine builders, he owes me, so hopefully he will play OK. I may have to leave the paintwork and just drive it around getting progressively more patchworked as time goes on. Want it on the road by April so that I can get some miles on it before the Stoneleigh trip. The Sierra is running fine, I have plans, but nothing that cannot wait. I'm still thinking of cutting my losses and binning it, yet tomorrow I may feel like finishing it, who knows and who cares? So, come on whats what and who is going where?  Plus I got a Pinto and box to rebuild, just remembered that !

Mine had nothing on the front of the glass and nothing overlapping the edge of the glass at all. The front of the glass was flush with the rubber sealant, which was painted in body colour.

I'm going to say this James... told you so :)

I was genuinely worried when the screen came out of the spares car so easily. I honestly think there is never any danger of these being broken by something hitting them from inside as they just fall out.

I have removed my damaged screen, ready to swap it. I ran a blade down one side and pushed it from the inside, just to see if it would move, and the whole screen lifted out. I hadn't even touched the other 3 edges. So if anyone asks you what keeps the screen in a Legerra you will know that it is the windscreen wipers!

I'm collecting  the car this morning, and hope to get a full print out, have to replace the bonnet, and put some more fuel in it. Will report back later once I've got my breath back :-)

Is the 120bhp figure at the wheels? That may explain the power to weight as flywheel figure will be more like 140bhp

That video is pretty close, Steve. Do you surf wearing a captain's hat too?

If you are running a standard Escort diff with a 3.89 ratio then that works out as exactly120mph. That 270 bhp/ton puts your car at only 450kg. That seems a little light as I have a mate who struggled to get his short wheel base Westfield (with a cross flow) down to that weight, using alloy hubs and the like.

If that weight is correct then you are looking at 0-60 in 5.9 sec and a top speed of 115mph (5700rpm), if you are that brave.

WOW ! 270bhp...........that's per ton :-( however it works out to 121.5 bhp not bad for an old motor. Discovered its over carbed, no need for 2" su's. So I may try it back on the 1.75" su's it was made with. Very frightening to hear your car hitting max revs in each gear as they wound it up, I nearly asked them to stop, please don't break it, but I saved face and watched it rev like its never going to again. 6000rpm in overdrive top on 185/70x13 wheels, work that one out James :-)) (overdrive is 0.85)
