Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

So, I wrote a very scary list earlier... things to do while Sues away this weekend...

Here's the top ten in order of GOT TO DO or else...

Sierra - Gearbox rear oil seal - I have the seal, just got to get under the car and fit it.

Sierra - Head Gasket - I have the kit including nice new shorter bolts.

Sierra - Wheel bearings, had the kit for ages, too damn busy.

Sierra - Back door shut, needs glassing to keep the snow out.

Sierra - Fit my nice new window (thanks Mr K)

Sierra - Wire up the rest of the dash and fit a switch panel

Sierra - make aforementioned switch panel and something to fix it too

Legerra - put 'dry fuel' in tank before starting it up and moving it so I can...

Play shuffle truck with all the cars, trailer and ...

Move some crap out of the garage.

I wonder what I'm going to do on Sunday?

Seriously though, if any of my fellow Lancastrians are bored I'll have the kettle on.

What's everybody else up to?

thanks....he had a sly dig at me since his membership of the cortina club came back the same week.....

I managed to cross the first job off the list, in my defence I did have to manufacture the tool to extract the old seal first. What a ******* that was to get out. Unlike the 5-6 mm seals that go in the front of the engine this one is more than twice that depth, abused and covered in gearbox oil which is a lot runnier in a type 9 than normal gearbox oil.

My smallest gear puller was still too big so had to be suitably modified with the angle grinder and a file, took a while to get it right and its still a dam tight fit past the tail shaft. Job done though, new seal fitted and fluid filled, took over 1/2 litre of oil so must have seen over that spewed out over the underside of the car. Propshaft cleaned, greased and refitted. I'm now thawing nicely. Dam its cold out there.

How jobs did you get done over the weekend?  Did they all get done?

Rear oil seal on gearbox done.

Trailer electrics done.

Not happy doing the head gasket on a sunday, needs to be a saturday to have enough time to get Dave to come and fix my screw ups.

I seem to have been sidetracked doing paperwork and have been since 3pm :-(, god you lot don't half make for some dead trees...

now you tell me,  i wish i had known  it would have saved me  a bit,  never mind, at least i have some spare,  is it enough for me to hang myself with, ??  actually i was going to ask if it was of any use to you,  its the smaller 6mm stuff

Martin check the spec on it not all the fuel pipe that is about at the moment is suitable for modern fuel and the adatives that are now coming in

its gates  multifuel 3225 6mm universal  GL061613 A2

You need to find SAE30R9 for ethanol resistant or SAE30R10 for in tank/submerged - that's what our fuel and lube guys use on the test beds.

I dont have any need to make excuses. Better things to do with my time

I'll read mine tomorrow, sure to be on Antiques Roadshow.

You on the right thread there Dave?

No
