Escort 1.6 16V - W Plate MoT fail but genuine 68k, excellent engine.

Hi chaps,

Got an old Mk6 Escort that the MoT man just just waved his wand of death over. Too much stuff needs replaced to bother. However, it runs and drives fine, and has a genuine 68k miles on it. Previous owner took up alcoholism shortly after acquiring it and barely drove it in about ten years.

Engine is excellent, I've not long given it fresh oil, filters and plugs. Would be perfect in a kit car of some sort. I realise that if you're going to fit a Zetec you're as well fitting the 2 litre, but it would still be a good upgrade from a crossflow, for example.

It's my sister's car. She's after £100 for it. You could sell the alloys (15" RS 7-spoke type things), the towbar and Ford CD player and probably cover that, so you basically get yourself a free car. From this you rescue all the conversion bits you need before the weighing in the rest, or continuing to burst it for spares.

I'll be running it about until the current MoT expires on the 14th. Fail sheet available on request if interested.

EDIT - Car is in Aberdeenshire but has been in daily use, so is driveable if you want to collect. All four tyres were advisories but not failures. No reason to suspect that it wouldn't handle a long journey.

I can tell that in a years time i'm going to look back at this and wish I had said i'll have it.

Got too many on my plate to start on another Legerra that will have to go for IVA because i've put the engine behind the seats
