I thought this was about cakes not pies though a marathon pie eating competion sounds good, I have the build for it:-)))

(piethon)

AHHHHHHH! Marathon  (Snickers) pie! not up North. Sorry started already...

Not quite  in the same league, but my local chippy do a very nice, if a bit gooy  deep fried battered mars bar

Strangely on a holiday  in yorkshire, a few years back i stayed in a place called Watter, the local pub was ran by a southerner from my home town!!    and the pie and mash,  best ale and steak pie  i had ever tasted , but the beer, not as good as back down south , so if we teach you how to brew propper beer, you can tell us your secret with the pies

OH CHEERS Vern !!!   the mear mention of a Eccles cake makes my mouth water, now I'm going to have to nip over the road and get me one for afternoon tea break   ......... It's a hard life :-)))

There is an amusing little tale I have about Eccles cakes. Back in the day's when I used to employ apprentices, we had a new lad start, and in the firstcouple of weeks, all boys get lots of stick from the mechanics, the usual stuff like being sent to the stores for a long wait, or a can of black and white cheqeured spray paint, bubble for a spirit level etc etc. On Saturday mornings we send the boy out to get cakes for tea time ....... this new lad took the list to the bakers, and came back with a box of cakes, when I went in to get my Eccles cake as usual, there was only a doughnut, so when I tackled him, the cheeky little sod said " Ive been had too many times this week, I wasnt going to ask for that, theres no sutch thing as an Eccles cake"  It took us weeks to get him to belive us.

"Bet our northern friends would cheat"! How dare you sir ! Cream buns at twenty paces for you, you bounder you !

WoW wasn't it us Northerners who opened a Warburton Bakery down South so you Southerners could enjoy proper bread.

Excuse me, i thought that proper bread had hovis written over it  or have i been watching too many adverts

With all this talk of Cake we have had to move Steve Heap to a darkened room to calm him down.

Sorry Martin missed your post (dont know how) about the rock buns, in that case ill ask the wife to make me some pork pies to throw, the first and last time she made one we had to take a hammer and chisel to it after breaking the knife lol !

pork pies, what , with hard as iron crusts,  only one thing to do, Run Away, Run Away Run Away  (another python moment)
