The Sierra is giving me jip. Running rich, high tickover (1200 rpm), mixture screw is fully in - 1/4 turn back, starts misfiring at 2000 - 2200 rpm, throttle stop screw is backed off and not making contact, throttle cable has slack and is free moving, as it the throttle linkage assembly. Looking for places to start.
I will be doing a compression test when I get home tomorrow and will change the condenser too.
Anyone got anymore thoughts?

Ok Boss. :-)
I guess the best way would then be to check the bits over on the leggy carb while I have it off the car and see if any of the other donors parts match up.
don't suppose they stamped numbers in them :-( that would be too easy wouldn't it.
I'll get the DGAS down off the shelf and check that out too although it's probably from a V6.
Oh have we been boring the pants off everyone else again :-o
Don't fiddle with the Leggy bits just swap them one at a time or you may introduce a problem. I've seen that happen too many times!
There are numbers stamped on the carb flange and when new there would have been an ally tag on one of the top cover screws, I don't have my weber handbook to hand to interpret what the numbers are. I'll see if I can find it tomoz
My thread... :-) if they are bored they don't have to read it.
I'll get all the relevant bits together on the work bench and write down a few numbers, see what I come up with.
All the ally tags are missing, too old, but the numbers on the sides of the carbs should be visible with a little work, same with the jets etc.
Just a side track but I have been told that immersing the parts in oxy clean solution will bring them up nice and shiny, anyone back this up/tried it and failed?
A good soaking in old brake cleaner - for a few days then a toothbrush and washing machine powder (has caustic in it so use rubber gloves) and hot water as hot as you can stand, or the dishwasher if you fancy dicing with death :-o
Never heard of oxy clean so can't comment (for really stubborn stains I have used mr muscle oven cleaner (even more caustic) but make sure you have removed any rubber/fibre parts you want to keep!
Well boys, I chucked the towel in when the rain started.. just got the jack and stands under the car too :-(
It will keep, guess i'll be nursing the legerra for a few days more then .
strewth Ade i am only parked in warrington and its dry here.....
It was a squall, bit of wind driven rain howling straight down the side of the house where I was going to be working. Its a job I would much rather do in daylight anyway.
Might bunk off friday as its supposed to be dry.
Just had a google and found this.
Seems to be within my capabilities so what do you reckon boys?
