As for it being voted down at the agm Dave is that not just because only a small number off the club members turN up for the agm. If it was put to the full club membership as it should be then I think you'd have a different story!

As many will know I have long wanted DT to go online/PDF downloadable which could be sent out as an email newsletter. Other clubs do it and it saves on the printing cost/distribution hassle. Yes I know there are a few who like the printed version - nothing stops you from printing it and for the very few who are still not 'wired' (and who obviously can't read this) maybe a printed copy could be sent to them ( it would be just printed A4 not a magazine though)

Generally speaking there would be no difference in the time between DT being published and it going online.Recently its been an issue to get resolved but hopefully we are getting to end of that problem. This issue comes up at the AGM almost every year and has always been resoundingly voted down.

If you scan something into a PDF, like the build manuals, it is normally very large but if you publish a document to PDF from Microsoft Word or Star Office then it is pretty compact. For example my Christmas Letter 2012, which is two sides with 13 pictures and 1600 words, is 390Kb in PDF (printing quality) or 140Kb in PDF (web quality) and 460Kb as a Word document - also a damn good read, if I do say so myself!

PDF's can be made to be tiny, 200 page instruction manuals can be made in to files only a few meg. In my opinion the club shouldn't don't do away with the printed but make a pdf also available as a download for members, would become a useful resource.

That's not allowed, getting Martin excited is not an option.

Steady on there Ade .......  you'll get Martin going talking about train fetishes :-0    and am loving the angry smiley, its brilliant.

Paul will understand...

I got my email access back tonight, had to do my own tech support, contact our service provider, sort out access rights, prove identity, accept T&C, in triplicate before I obtained a password reset...

And for my trouble I got spammed by legacy emails from previous membership secretaries online experiments, holidays, steam train fetishes....
