Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

After working out the prices of a service kit for my trusty pinto and spending ages trying to find a condenser and points at the local motor factors I was told to check the Accuspark systems available.

They sell a points and condenser unit that fits inside the dizzy for £32.50 so was wondering if anyone else has tried them and what the results were?

Breakerless ignition systems have proven themselves over the last 40 years Ade, you really need to drag yourself into the 20th century LOL

Bosch were the better OEM unit, never had a problem with my cortina which was pretty much standard for 130,000 miles, did the usual 10,000 services and changed points, rotor arm, cap and condenser all in one hit.

The leggy is fomoco and has to be tweaked about once a week when the car is in use, more if I abuse it, the Sierra isn't as bad but could still be badly worn as I have no idea if it was looked after before I got hold of it (probably not)

After consideration I think I'll buy the bosch dizzy with accuspark fitted, from accuspark themselves and put that in the legerra, keep the fomoco one as a spare for the Sierra and possibly get a module for that, then keep the points and condenser in the tool bag just in case. I'll get the fomoco module first though as the Leggy is off road until March at least.

I'll have the Sierra with me at Stoneleigh as evidently I will be delivering 'stuff'. I'm going to get the Accuspark set for the ford dizzy fitted long before May, I use it too often to allow it to carry on playing up the way it is at the moment.

Best you bring your roof fitting kit pal because you'll be spending the weekend fettling a hardtop. I have two over centre catches for the sides but you'll need some way of fixing the front down. Until I go get the roof I won't know what was used on the last car but will keep you updated.

The Sierra is still misfiring today, seems to be a plug or lead breaking down so I guess I'll be swapping those out over the weekend  I guess the Leggy will be donating test parts again. Lets hope the Met office is wrong about the rain on saturday.

Martin proberly better to put electronic ignition on before you try to make the journey that way you have a fighting chance

We don't know but maybe he installed a secret set of pedals just incase  the engine won't work

Martin was talking stean a little time ago, Maybe his winter upgrade was to remove the crossflow in favour of the kettle.
