Dutton Kit Cars and their owners

Hi chaps,

Just a query from me - once my S3's back up and running I'll be autotesting it rather a lot. As you're all aware it has a single piece flip front which incorporates the bonnet, front panel/lights and the front wheel arches.

Obviously, it would be advantageous for me to see the front wheels while Autotesting. Is there anything out there that would fit an S3 but has separate wheel arches that I could remove? Or am I looking at buying a rough/broken flip front and cutting the arches off for competition use only?

Any idea would be great chaps, thanks!

There isn't a ready made nose for the S3/4 that has no arches so it would be DIY. I have one for an S3 in green that has already had the arches amputated, it also came off a V8 so has a rather large hole in the middle.

I'll send you a PM.

PM sent earlier Adrian but it's not showing in my sent box - let me know if you don't get it and I'll send again. Cheers

Isn't the B+ S2 basically a S3/4 chassis?

Mine had a standard S3 bonnet when I got it, I cut mine off and made the sides with glass fibre. It turned out good.

Yeah, the look of yours will be pretty much what I'm trying to replicate Paul! Probably just not as pretty, as it'll be for race use only... ha ha! By the wau, how did you go about mounting your wheel guards? I'm guessing you have to attach them to a point on the hub/upright so they move and steer with the wheel?

I fabricated some metal stays and then used silkflex to fix mudguard to stay,

To where were the metal stays attached? Hub/upright or elsewhere? Cheers for the info so far!

Wright lets see how  well I can describe the bracket, I took a piece of 10mm tube and bent it to a U shape, on the apex of the bend I welded a tab with a hole drilled. This is fitted t the bottom ball joint. It's got 2 brackets welded on which attach to the bolts which hold the ball joint to the stub axel. I used some solid bar slid down inside the tube with a 90 deg bend, thid was plug welded at the bottom and welded all round at the top. . I may do a sketch and try to post.
