Well it went through at the second attempt, failed on O/S/R suspension bushes, O/S hand brake inop. (Poxy linkage butchered by previous owner) these are normal for my dutton, and the N/S inboard rack joint has some play in it (very successful bodge sorted that one, but it could do with a new rack (triumph spitfire) until i can fit the Cortina wish bones and the ford rack.
so now its ready for Stoneleigh.

Well we did it, all be it with a few misadventures. But we managed 381 miles of absolutely brilliant roads, in glorious weather.
We met at the Royal Oak on the A6 at Westhoughton, near Bolton at noon on Friday, Noon must mean time to eat and drink this as become feature of the Northern Duttoneer’s tours, Eat, Drink, Drive, Eat, Drink, Drive etc.
Once we were all together and refreshments finished we set off for North Wales, keeping to the A…

Don't think from the this title that I am any where near painting the car, far from it. But I have seen some inspiration today. I saw a matt black 1970's VW camper van, then 30mins later saw a matt black Morris Minor. Mmmmm, matt black Phaeton me thinks! On my budget I would be painting the car at home with aerosols so the the finish may be dodgy, if I go matt black no problem. The car already has matt black sides, 50% of the bonnet matt black and a matt black panel on the rear, so not…

Talking of barn finds, I have just found one on my drive. For the first time since November, I took a look at Daisy Dutton.
There were spiders, rust, oxidised alli and dried on horse muck from the last time out, which when I think back was the Coast to Coast in September.
I was shocked when I opened the bonnet, very sad. That's what a winter does without a garage or without a cover.
I had to do the usual jump start from the RAV4, and even that struggled, when it did fire…

Sorry guy's for late approval on your blogs, I should have been home by teatime, instead I was stuck in Brussels airport after the plane we were on broke down taxiing out to take off.
An engineer came along and hit it with a hammer, then told us it was not safe to fly and we would have to get off.
I offered to have a look, but they said it's not like a Dutton.

Hi ! to all my fellow enthusiasts, I would like to thank you all on your comments about my dutton. The original plan was to buy 1 dutton and 1 nissan 200sx and put the 2 to gether. Best laid plans rarely work and only the engine and gearbox was used as at this time I wanted a quick project. The dutton was striped to a bare chassis, the chassis then had 2 x box member replaced, The engine was put in place so engine mounts could fabricated, The gear box cross member was made removeable and…
