In 8 hours we'll be on our way to the start of the Coast to Coast.
St Bee's head sunday morning, but first a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum. I'll try and update the blog as much as possible on route. Don't you just love Duttoneering?

As its nice and mild I have the office window open and am being serenaded by the dulcid tones of Ronan Keating coming from Haigh Hall 5 BLOODY MILES AWAY!!!
Still at least its not Opera.

The old girl clocked 600+ miles this weekend, taking the total over 20,000 in less than 3 years. Didn't miss a beat all weekend, drove back from Kent with the roof down all the way despite threatening cloud over Donnington.
The spoiler has made a difference at speed, it feels more stable. Just needs finishing along with the rear bumper. The new glove box got used and seems surprisingly solid despite being made from foam and skinned with tissue.
I still need to service the back…

Hi all as some of you may well know, Sandra and myself went to the German Dutton owners annual get together on the 8/5/10. Having made the trip to stoneleigh and back with out a murmur, we expected no problems. to be honest i have spent loads on the car in sorting various problems on the car, and thought there was nothing left to replace. 39km out of europort in Holland we hit a big pothole at speed on the motorway and snapped the top off the O/S rear shocker. Tom from Germany recovered us,…

So I spent my sunny weekend doing odd jobs on the car, Decided it was time to fit the metric studs in the back axle.
I bought the studs before I bought the car, sat in a bag covered in oil in the garage for a while. Out comes the blowlamp, big 'ammer and other bits and bobs to get it sorted. Old ones were a nice tight fit but came out with just a few carefully placed whacks with a 2 1/2 lb'er. Got the new ones ground to the same length and fitted. Checked all the back brakes while the…

Well looks like the car is just about ready for the MOT. Fitted a drivers side mirror today, fitted air filters and airbox, sorted the fuel pipes and filter and fitted the fuel gauge properly. Took it for a quick spin on private roads and all seems well apart from the throttle getting stuck and a high idle, adjusted the idle and fixed the spring so just tyre pressures left.
Fingers crossed for friday. Only thing that seems a bit dodgy is the handbrake. Carbs may need setting up as it…

Hi Fellow Duttoneers,
I read with interest the exploits of the Northern duttoneers and their regular meetings, this makes me wonder if there's enough, ( out of our 45 members) up here in Scotland to create something similar for us more Northern Duttoneers... lol

If I can get away with it I am off to work on the car for a bit today. I need to lift the back suspension on the shocks due to the new back tyres touching on corners. Now fitted with 15" wolfrace alloys and 195/60/15s on the rear 195/50/15s on the front. I don't paticularly like the look of these wheels but its so hard to find 15" ford fitting rims with a sensible offset. Makes a bit of difference to the grip though having quality tyres on her. The old 13's are going to be cleaned and polished…

Specifically the fibreglass panel that covers the roll cage, anybody got a spare?
Mine parted company with the car this afternoon on the M61 at a speed in excess of 65mph... flipped off and landed in lane 3 behind me, Looked back ro see it skidding and bouncing along behind me. Not enough space to stop and go back for it and after just having bought and fitted a new soft top too... GRRRRRRRRRR.
The HATO's have been to look for it but say there is no trace, I think whats left is hidden…

Its Drizzling outside and windy, Its warm in here and comfy....looks like I need to get cold and wet.
The new soft top arrived from Polyfacto but I need to move the front bar from the old one so I'm off to work to abuse the large warehouse and a big heater for the afternoon.
The hard top lets in more water than the old soft top, especially when you forget to fit the seals...
I'll take some photos at work when it's fitted.
