show car

Any one out there willing to put their hopefully standard (as near as possible) Dutton Phaeton (or a Malaga B+) on a show stand for the duration of a show with 20-30 similar early kit cars at Donnington?

The car should be as early as possible with a tidy appearance and on as near as possible contemporary wheels and as close too the factory design as is feasible, it does not need to be a concourse car  just tidy. Something to show us all in a good light. Suggestions please.

RESULT!

MY car used to have the geometry as follows...

Front;

Castor N/S  1 degree 55 minutes

Rear;

had a slight thrust (steering) to N/S of 0 degrees 28 minutes (had worn bushes, so i thought that was the problem)

Today i have just had it checked on the same machine and got the following......

Front;

castor N/S 6…

track days

At stafford last year i was approached by the regional secretary of the robin hood owners to see if we are interested in a track day. they would like to share costs if we can get enough interest. however they prefer a week day as its half price at about £15-20 a car. their preferred venue is Curborough (litchfield) are there any members interested?
The ROCAR SEC. also owns a Melos and uses it. so he is a fan of Duttons as well.

MOT

Well it went through at the second attempt, failed on O/S/R suspension bushes, O/S hand brake inop. (Poxy linkage butchered by previous owner) these are normal for my dutton, and the N/S inboard rack joint has some play in it (very successful bodge sorted that one, but it could do with a new rack (triumph spitfire) until i can fit the Cortina wish bones and the ford rack.

so now its ready for Stoneleigh.

front suspension set up

My car will have a whole new front end on it next year, from the triumph front end (with ford adaptors) is going and will be replaced with a Ford Cortina set up ala Ron Champion's book. But i want to make the camber and the castor adjustable, the camber is easy to figure out but what methods has anyone out there used for castor adjustment?

I can think of several ways of doing it, but some seem overly complicated to achieve.

and if your wondering why i want to change a good working… Continue

Trip to Germany

Hi all as some of you may well know, Sandra and myself went to the German Dutton owners annual get together on the 8/5/10. Having made the trip to stoneleigh and back with out a murmur, we expected no problems. to be honest i have spent loads on the car in sorting various problems on the car, and thought there was nothing left to replace. 39km out of europort in Holland we hit a big pothole at speed on the motorway and snapped the top off the O/S rear shocker. Tom from Germany recovered us,… Continue
